Various types of hell
            In this land of ours three Bharata had appeared, one is son of Dasarath and Kaikeyee, next is learned jada Bharat of Srimad Bhagavattam and third is son of Dushyant and Sakuntala. We sing the glories of these three Bharata. One Bharata is bhakti yogi, second is gyan yogi and the third is karma yogi. For the birth of these three mahapurushas our land is said to be named as Bharat Varsha. Sukdevji says, Rajan in our earth there are seven islands (saptadwip) and among them one island’s name is Jammudwip which is the best among all others. In this Jammudwip there are nine varshas and the ninth one is Bharatvarsha. Even the demigods wishes to achieve the body of human beings who belong to this punya bhumi (sacred land), as the pleasure which is here in this land, that kind of pleasure is not there even in heaven. As a result of auspicious activities being performed here heaven is achieved and when the happiness of heaven ends, again have to return back here. Parikhit Maharaj says, forgive me rishibar, as you have referred of hell, what is it.
            Acharya Sukdev says, Rajan, in the southern direction of our land beyond 99 thousand yojan (one yojan is about eight miles), in an elevated place there is a site where 28 types of hell such as Tamishra, Andha Tamishra, Raurava, Maha Raurava, Kumbhipaar etc. are situated. When a person does sinful activities the messengers of Yama (lord of death) embraces rope around the neck of that person and throws him in those hells. If somebody gives false evidence or deceives a person than he had to go to Tamishra hell. If somebody hates or envies than he goes to Raurava and malice takes to Kumbipaak hell. In these hells, various kinds of punishment are inflicted upon the guilty persons such as, in the Kumbipaak hell there is a large container kept over a large oven, thousand liters of oil are being boiled and the person being convicted is thrown there. The sufferings are greater than death, but death does not happen. Let our body not become a crematorium; it should be kept sanctified like a temple.
            Maharaj Parikhit asks munibar, sometimes we commit offence unknowingly and it occurs unwillingly just as while walking, or while lighting fire, or while breathing in and out. Acharya Sukdev says there are five kinds of yajna (sacrifice) every human being should perform. First is to feed the cow, next is to offer clarified butter in the fire, third to serve the guests, fourth is to give the insects, the ants and the birds something to eat ant the last one is to donate food and clothes to the beggars. By doing this pancha yajna (five kinds of sacrifice) the sufferings of unknowing offences are destroyed. But the best means is Hari kirtana.
            Some perform austerities, some do religious activities, some do aasan, pranayam (special way to set and control breath prescribed in the yoga system), some keeps brata (religious vows) others do yajna (fire sacrifice) all these penances are done for self atonement but I feel that we should always try that we don’t have to ask anything from Paramatma. We should never ask anything from anybody as it weakens our atmabal (self-energy) and should always pray to Paramatma so that I don’t have to take anything and can only give.

Ajamil and the power of Holy Name
            Acharya Sukdev says, I believe that if somebody once sets his mind in the lotus feet of Sri Krishna than even in his dreams he will not have to witness the abode of Yama. By any means if the mind is engaged than it is done. Rajan one thing comes to my mind. There was a pandit by the name of Ajamil who was very learned and amiable. He was a measured speaker, a lustrous, famous and magnanimous person. He had a good sense of scriptures but his mind traversed away in an evil path. There are two ways in which lust enters in our mind, one through eyes and another through ears. If eyes and ears are controlled, than the mind can also be kept under control. If a person surmounts his mind than even though he happens to be a grihastha (householder) but still he is a great saint and if he cannot than however great he may be whatever dress he may wear, but he is never a sadhu never a saint. Although Ajamil has all the qualities, but one day while he was returning from his usual activities he sees a sudra prostitute having sex with a person and as soon as he visualizes this prostitute, lust enters in his mind. Ajamil becomes so much infatuated by the beauty and youth of that prostitute that he gradually abandons his wife and children and begins to live with the prostitute. As the character in the picture is worshipped not the picture, similarly personality is being worshiped not a person. A guru does not only teaches grammar but also teaches good conduct and where the mood is pure Govinda reaches there. By the order of the prostitute to earn more money, Ajamil’s intelligence gets destroyed and the great amiable and learned begins to commit theft and later on becomes a dacoit. Who will transform him. But the power of Hari Katha (glorification of Lord Hari) in satsanga (truthful association) is terrible; life is transformed if association is received of a real sadhu. In the whole day if at least there is half an hour of bhajan-kirtan alongwith lessons of religious scriptures than also you can get release from several dangers. Once, a group of saints from Vrindavan was traveling through the village of Ajamil. On the way they asked a passerby if there is any place to stay for the night. That person in a mood of having fun shows them the house of Ajamil. However the saints took shelter in the house of Ajamil and in the morning when they were about to leave they asked Ajamil for some dakshina (honorarium). What dakshina shall I give asked Ajamil, the saints said that since your wife is now pregnant and after birth of nine sons when this son of yours gets birth you keep his name Narayan, that will be our dakshina and by saying this the sanyasis went away. At the time of death name of God does not come in our lips but name of son comes and that is why sons are generally given the names of various incarnations of the Lord so that even by taking the name of son a person gets liberated. This is a very nice arrangement prevailing in our country from many centuries.
            The eldest son is dear to the father and the youngest one to the mother but the middle one is dear to the Lord and so it is seen that sadhu and sanyasis are mostly middle sons of their father and mother. The youngest son of Ajamil, Narayan was dear to both father and mother and Ajamil specially liked him. He bathes him in his own hands, takes care of all his needs and never feeds himself without first feeding his son. If the name of Paramatama is uttered, no matter how still the influence of the Name will always be there. As time of death approaches near to Ajamil, Yamraj (ruler of death) sends his messengers, Ajamil lying in his bed and the yamadutas fastens rope around his neck. Looking at the huge forms of yamadutas Ajamil begins to shout – save me, save me, but who will save. The son of Ajamil was playing besides him and when Ajamil’s notices his son he cries out Narayan, Narayan please save me and as soon as Ajamil took the name of Narayan the Vishnudutas (messengers of Lord Vishnu) appears. The eyes of the Vishnudutas are like lotus petals, they were wearing yellow loin clothes, a nicely decorated crown is in their head are and in their necks a garland of beautiful flowers is suspended. The Vishnudutas does not allow the Yamdutas to take away Ajamil. The Yamadutas says, this person is most sinful and wicked and Yamraj had specially sent us to take him. The Vishnudutas says, since you are messengers of dharma (Yamraj is also known as Dharmaraj), don’t you know what the meaning of dharma is. The Yamadutas replied that to perform activities according to the Vedas is dharma and whatever is prohibited in the Vedas, that is adharma (irreligious), we have heard that Veda is itself Narayana. The Vishnudutas says, if Veda is itself Narayana than how can you take a person who had taken the name of Narayana at the time of death. The Yamadutas says, but he was taking the name of his son. The Vishnudutas replied that if a person utters the name of the Lord by hint, to mock, by gesture or by any means, his welfare is must. All kinds of sinful activities, whether big or small, are eradicated by the Name of the Lord.
            After hearing all these from the Vishnudutas, the Yamadutas returns back empty handed and complains to Yamaraj. They says Prabhu, we believed that you are the owner of this universe, yet when Ajamil shouted the name of Narayana, divine personalities having four arms appears, releases him from our hands and takes him away. As soon as Yamraj hears the name of Narayana both of his eyes becomes tearful and voice becomes indistinct because of excessive emotion. Yamraj is a great devotee of Lord Sri Krishna and he says to his courtiers, don’t say like that, this is the name of my Lord, He is the owner of all the creation, you are most luckiest person that you have had the darshan (sight) of his courtiers. The name of Narayana sanctifies our life and I am one of his dwadasjan (twelve individuals). The dwadasmahajan are Swyambhu (Brahma), Shambhu (Shiva), Narada, Kapil, Four kumars, Manu, Prahlad, Janak, Bhishma, Bali, Sukhdev and Dharmaraj (Yamraj).
            The Yamadutas further asks, Maharaj if everybody keeps their son’s names as Rama, Krishna etc. than who shall we get hold off. Yamraj says, a person whose tongue had never uttered the name of Krishna, whose vision never follows the lotus feet of Krishna, whose head never bows in front of Krishna such a sinful person you should catch and bring here.
            Ajamil realizes that just by taking the name of my son Narayan if I can be saved from going to hell, then by truly taking the name with respect surely I will achieve salvation and in this way a detachment creates in his mind that he leaves everything and goes away to the forest to meditate upon Sri Narayana. If the mind somehow adjoins in the lotus feet of Govinda, than even in his dream a person does not have go to hell.
            Sukdevji than describes the topic of Daksha Prajapati again. Once Indra the king among demigods dishonors his guru Brihaspati and so Brihaspati gets angry and goes away. Indra makes Biswarup his second guru, but eventually kills him for offering invocation to the asuras in the sacrifice. Sin for killing a brahmana takes a form of witch and begins to chase Indra and Indra later on divides the sin among four places, namely women, trees, land and water.
            On the other hand Twasta muni father of Biswarup in order to take revenge performs yajna and by pronouncing mantras produces a son by the name of Vritasura. Vritasura appears to kill Indra, but Indra approaches saint Dadhichi who was a great tapaswi (ascetic) and from the asti (bones, skeleton) of Dadhichi muni he creates a bajra (thunderbolt) by which he kills Vritasura. Vritasura was a great devotee of the Lord and the Lord rescues him by getting him killed by Indra. Maharaj Parikhit asks, munibar how did a devotee became a asura, what was his previous history.
            Sukdevji says, rajan in the previous life Vritasura was king Chitraketu. He had several queens but without any offspring. By the mercy of Angira rishi he attains a son but due to envy his other queens kills the child by administering poison. Further by the mercy of Narada Maharaj Chitraketu gives up mourning caused by his son’s death and becomes a great devotee of the Lord. Later on by means of severe austere practices he achieves the courtiership of the Lord.
            One day while having a pleasure trip in the sky Maharaj Chitraketu notices devi Parvati sitting in the lap of Shivji in mount Kailash. By this sight a wrong intention awakens in his mind and he views Shiv Parvati as normal human beings. As a result of his insult, Parvati Devi curses him to attain asura yoni (getting birth from the womb of a demon) and thus he takes the form of Vritasura but later on gets deliverance being killed by Indra.
